Lent is the season of 40 days leading up to Easter. This season is a time of intentional reflection when we make space in our lives for God to change our hearts in preparation for the new life that awaits us in the resurrection we celebrate at Easter.

This year we will share brief videos in a series called Staying Grounded in Times of Chaos. A new video will be released every Wednesday between now and Holy Week. Those who have gone before us have lived in chaotic times as well and passed wisdom on to us as we follow Christ today. In this series, voices across our diocese will share practices from our tradition that help us live out our faith when the world feels crazy. We begin this week with Brendon Neilson, Executive Director.

March 8 marked International Women's Day, a day to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness of discrimination and promote action for a gender equal world. 

The first woman ordained in our diocese were the Rev. Murial Adey in 1985. The Rev. Karen Fast became the fourth to be ordained in 1991. Karen was gracious enough to provide us with a brief interview to mark this commemorative day in Canada. Today, more than fifty percent of our clergy are women. Bishop Anna Greenwood-Lee is the first female Bishop of our diocese.

Please join us in welcoming Reverend Norman Knowles as the Incumbent of St. John the Baptist, Duncan and St. Michael and All Angels, Chemainus, effective July. The Rev. Dr. Norman Knowles is currently an associate Priest at St. Paul’s, Calgary, a Professor of History at St. Mary’s University, and the author of Seeds Scattered and Sown: Studies in the History of Canadian Anglicanism and Otayamihaw: The Life and Times of James Settee—Muskegowuk Teacher, Catechist, Deacon, Priest.
