The Rev. Lynn Mills was ordained on February 3rd, 2024 by Bishop Anna at St. Marys in Metchosin. Lynn will be the new incumbent of St. Marys.

Tomorrow, February 8, Bishop Anna will be preaching and presiding at the noon Eucharist at VST.  She will also be presenting The Rev. Dr. Ray Aldred, Director of Indiegenous Studies at VST, with the order of the  Diocese.

On January 21, 2024 a special service was held at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria to recognize the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service brought together Christians in our community from our own diocese, Grace Lutheran, Broad View United, The Greater Victoria Ethiopian Orthodox St Gabriel Church of Victoria, and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria.

Life in the diocese can sometimes be an abstract concept. It can easily seem like your parish exists independently given the geography and community life that is unique to you. We-together is our regular (once every other year) conference to remind us of our mingled mind. We are connected in countless ways, in our structures, in our prayers, and through our context. We are each others problem, and we are each others gift. 

This year we are continuing to focus on our context, building on the "here in this place" theme from We-Together 2022 we will be looking at what it means to serve and minister in the most non-religious context in North America. We have unique challenges, and unique opportunities. The conference will begin on Friday evening April 12th with an evening banquet at the Baumann Centre followed by an opening address by our Executive Director, Brendon Neilson. On Saturday we will gather at St. John the Divine in Victoria featuring our keynote speaker John Thatamanil, our Diocesan Theologian. John will be presenting two sessions with small group dialogue following each. We will end our time with the celebration of the Eucharist with Bishop Anna preaching and presiding.

The Property Redevelopment Information page on the diocesan website continues to be updated regularly. The latest updates are:

• The rezoning application has been submitted to the City of Victoria for Christ Church Cathedral. The anticipated timeline for approval is 18-24 months.
• On September 21, 2023, Diocesan Council authorized signing a Memorandum of Understanding with a developer to negotiate the potential sale of a portion of the St. Matthias property. On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Bishop Anna announced that no satisfactory agreement had been reached and the Diocese was going to wait at least a year before revisiting the possibility of a sale. 

Charisms is a monthly series of educational opportunities for leaders (both ordained and lay) across the diocese who are seeking to develop and expand their capacity to serve in their roles in a time of liminality, change, and adaptation. Last year in October, the Diocese hosted Mary Parmer, the founder of Invite Welcome Connect, for a powerful two-day workshop on parish growth and vitality. Since then, Sr. Ingrid Andersen (Church of the Advent, Colwood) has been receiving enthusiastic emails asking about the next steps for parishes that want to learn more and wish to implement their learnings.
