The rezoning application has been advanced by the City of Victoria City Council on October 8th with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd readings being approved. We will not begin working on a Master Development Agreement between the diocese and the City before fourth and final reading completes the rezoning.
The District of Saanich and the Green Municipal Fund of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities have donated grants for us to continue doing pre-development work on a project that meets our needs and the needs of the community.
The Parish of St. Dunstan and the Two Saints ministry now worships as St. Peter's Saanich. Management and Diocesan Council is still working with potential buyers for the property at San Juan Avenue. In the meantime the church is being leased to Greater Victoria Ethiopian Orthodox St. Gabriel Church.
A collaboration with Duncan Housing Society and BC Housing to build affordable rental housing for seniors and those living with disabilities has been approved. Construction of the project has begun and is anticipated to take 24 months.
Collaboration with Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness and BC Housing to build a 32-unit Wellness House with cultural and wrap-around medical support. An a portion of the parking lot bas been sold and construction is underway on the new Healing House.
