The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Islands and Inlets seeks a full-time incumbent for the parish of St. John the Baptist, Cobble Hill.
BACKGROUND
The Diocese of Islands & Inlets is an equitable employer that operates on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and the Broughton Archipelago. As an institution we acknowledge the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Kwakwaka'wakw nations whose relationship with these lands and waters is ongoing. We acknowledge our role in the historic dispossession of land, language, and culture, and are committed to being a part a reconciliatory path forward. We are a regional expression of the Anglican Church of Canada, part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. We are a progressive church where seekers are welcome to receive communion, baptism, marriage, and ordination on an equal basis. The parish of St. John the Baptist is one of forty-six worshipping communities in the diocese, which extends across Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands of the Salish Sea and Kingcome Inlet.
OUR MINISTRY
St. John the Baptist is a community with Sunday attendance of approximately 50 people committed to worshipping God, growing in faith and fellowship, and reaching out with the love of Christ to all. St. John’s vision is “to encourage the reawakening of faith within our community of the South Cowichan Valley, to encourage those who are searching for deeper meaning in their lives to find a welcoming home within our doors… by being a loving example of God’s presence among us through our actions to nurture believers, respond to human need through loving service, being responsible stewards of creation, and reaching across generations and cultures to help all people live out the Gospel with courage and joy.” The parish values diversity, seeks the full inclusion of all people, and strives to be a welcoming community.
YOUR MINISTRY WITH US
If you feel called to discern the possibility of sharing in ministry at St. John’s, we want to hear from you. The parish profile can be obtained from the Ven. Jenny Replogle, Executive Archdeacon. Deadline for applications is February 20.
