Once you've completed the Lay Leadership in Worship Course, with your full attendance, weekly reflections, and practicum, you'll receive an email from the Bishop's Executive Assistant outlining the final steps in your journey to becoming a Lay Minister.

In that email, you'll find attached several documents, including a letter from the bishop. If you discern you’d like to continue to licensing, the letter outlines your final requirements, which I have detailed below:

  1. Bring the letter to your parish incumbent and/or wardens (or regional archdeacon) to discuss whether the parish calls you to this work. Have a conversation about how and when it might be appropriate to apply what you have learned in the parish setting.

  1. Complete and sign the Lay Minister Licence Request document with your parish incumbent and/or wardens (or regional archdeacon). This document outlines your plan for ministry in your parish.

  1. Review and sign the Lay Minister Oaths before License document with your parish incumbent and/or wardens (or regional archdeacon).

Submit a copy of these 2 documents to the Bishop's Executive Assistant by email, mail, or synod office drop-off. Once the bishop’s office has confirmed receipt of these documents, a request will be submitted to Bishop Anna to sign your oaths and issue you a lay minister license, valid for 5 years, that will be mailed to you, for pick up at your parish office.
