Going to an Anglican church can feel a bit...odd the first time.
Here's what you will notice:
Common prayer is an important part of how we worship.
Our services are based in a rich tradition of set prayers, either from the Book of Common Prayer (16th century rites) or the Book of Alternative Services (1985).
Although each congregation has its own way of expressing itself, the worship services have strong commonalities across all churches.
The service begins with gathering the community, and follows a pattern that includes listening to and reflecting on Scripture, bringing the needs of the world together in prayer, sharing in the Eucharistic meal of bread and wine, and then being sent forth into our daily mission.
Anglican churches follow six church seasons (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost).
Bible readings are set for the year so what is read in one church will be the same as what is read in another Anglican church on any given Sunday.
Worship space is enhanced by the use of symbols (crosses, icons, candles) and is commonly anchored by two sacramental symbols of an altar (a table used for the Eucharist/communion) and a font (a bowl that is filled with water for baptisms).
It shouldn't be so confusing you don't want to come back.

We are located in downtown Victoria at 900 Vancouver Street. We're the yellow house-like building at the corner of Vancouver and Burdett and our parking lot entrance is off Vancouver. Park anywhere you don't see a reserved sign!
