Pride EucharistWednesday, June 26, 2024 Join Christ Church Cathedral for a Pride Eucharist in collaboration with the parish of St John the Divine to rejoice in the fullness of love and diversity in God’s family. Regardless of how you identify, or how you relate to the divine, you are warmly invited to join us, knowing that all sexual orientations and gender identities will be affirmed and proudly celebrated. Wednesday, June 26, 7pm at Christ Church Cathedral The service will feature guest preacher Rebecca Yeo. The Rev'd Canon Jeannine Friesen, Priest in Charge, will preside at the Eucharist. Mark McDonald,Assistant Director of Music, will be directing a pop-up choir with participation from a variety of parishes. The service will be in person and livestreamed. Estate Planning and Legacy Giving SeminarSaturday, June 22, 2024 The Church of St John the Divine, 1611 Quadra Street, Victoria, is pleased to present an estate planning and legacy giving seminar at 10:00 a.m. on June 22nd at the Bauman Centre, 925 Balmoral Road, Victoria. Estate plans are as unique as the individuals creating them which is why it is crucial to customize plans to align with specific goals. In this seminar, we will look at wills, tax saving implications and the importance of legacy giving. Any gift offered to further the work the church is an important part of Christian stewardship and ensures a continuing legacy in ways that may be important to you. The theme for this year's Amazing Journey Day Camp is Mending God's World. The Camp will held Monday, July 22nd to Friday, July 26th, in the mornings, 9 am to noon at Church of the Cross. Buildings Advisor
The Anglican Diocese of Islands and Inlets is seeking a Buildings Advisor to work with our parish representatives on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The Advisor will document various project management, design, construction and property management projects, and advise both diocesan committees and parish representatives on buildings maintenance and operational projects that fall between $20,000 and $200,000. Lay Leadership in Worship Course 2024-25
Well done to the Spring 2024 cohort of the Lay Leadership in Worship Course, who have completed their training to lead the Liturgy of the Word, and have been contacted about the next steps to apply to be licenced as Lay Ministers. Now is the time for parish clergy and parishioners to begin to recruit those who wish to be trained in the Spring 2025 course, as courses are no longer held twice a year. The Lay Leadership in Worship Course takes place in 2025 on Thursdays from 7-9 PM via Zoom on Mar 6, 13, 20, 27, Apr 3, 10, 24, and June 5, 2025.
