The Week of Prayer for Christian UnitySunday, January 21, 2024 The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an annual ecumenical celebration. Christians around the world are invited to pray for the unity of all Christians, to reflect on scripture together, to participate in jointly-organized ecumenical services. To share in this fellowship, a service will take place at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria on Sunday, January 21 at 4:00 pm. Bishop Anna is presiding, and Bishop Gary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria is preaching. Attached is the poster for this event, that can be used to advertise within our diocese. Lay Leadership in Worship Course
Many of the parishes in the diocese are “in transition” and do not necessarily have a priest to celebrate the Eucharist each Sunday. Additionally, parishes are rediscovering the daily office and considering ways to have lay-led weekday services. Lay-led services are an opportunity for renewal: to encourage lay people to live into the vows they made in their baptismal covenant, which reminds us that each and every one of us, lay or ordained, is called to participate in worship by virtue of our baptism. The Anglican Diocese of Islands and Inlets is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to support the office, located near Fairfield in downtown Victoria. The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will maintain regular weekly in-office hours to provide payroll processing for 150+ employees, benefits administration, along with writing employment contracts and other HR-related tasks. The Administrator must possess excellent verbal and written English communications skills, high attention to detail, solid listening and organizing skills, enthusiasm for change and adaptation, skill at multi-tasking, and a positive, optimistic attitude. We are looking for an individual who has a strong background (minimum of five years) in progressive payroll work experience and the following skills/experience:
