Charisms is a new and ongoing professional development series for clergy and established lay leaders within the Diocese of British Columbia. Bringing together expertise from around the world and within our diocese, Charisms offers monthly interactive sessions to increase our capacity for the process of adaptive change, and the demands of leadership in a liminal time.
Charisms will be offered via Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month at 12 noon, and each session will be around two hours. Recordings of sessions will be available afterwards, however we encourage real-time attendance and participation to get the most out of workshops and discussions. The opportunity to connect with colleagues and to form a community of practice with peers can help us to see through bold new initiatives, as well as to reflect on how to lead in a life-giving way during difficult times.
The following sessions will be offered November to January by The Rev. Dr. Bill Kondrath, who has previously led workshops at our diocesan Clergy Conference.
Detailed information on the sessions is attached. Learning about and practicing these kinds of reflective leadership skills enables us to work at a deeper level, and to move through periods of reactivity and task-orientation and into the work of deep, relational development as communities of faith.
Registration will be required for this series with a limit of 25, and additional sessions may be offered if demand exceeds capacity.
We hope that this will be an opportunity to engage in an experiential and transformational process of reflective learning. As leaders, we work on developing professional skills and internal capacities to enable us to respond to the needs of our communities in ways that are spiritually innovative, sustainable, and spiritually grounded.
If there are any areas of ministry that you would like to see a future session of Charisms respond to, or if there are skills and learnings which you would be interested in offering to your colleagues by leading a future session, be in touch with The Revd. Juli Mallett, Congregational Development Coordinator, at jmallett@bc.anglican.ca.
We hope that you will find that Charisms deepens the practice of your vocation, and equips and enables you to lead where God is calling you, and us, in this season of growth and change.
Look for forthcoming information on future sessions on the subject of addressing bullying in leadership, repairing ruptures in relationship, the therapeutic capacity of pastoral leadership, and how to communicate meaningfully with the communities outside of the Church.
