September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconiliation. All are invited to join Bishop Anna at St. Peter's, Quamichan for an overview of the Colonial history of the Cowichan Valley. 

The presentation and discussion will take place in the parish hall from 1:30 – 3:00 pm. St. Peters Quamichan is located just outside of Duncan at 5800 Church Road.

Filmed in the Sinai wilderness, Sand and Soul is an immersive experience into the solitude of the Sinai desert. Travelling by jeep with local Bedouin and legendary Sinai Guide Dr. Rabia, producer Richard LeSueur and two companions journey into the desert on an ancient pilgrim route that leads to the heights of Mount Sinai. The video toggles between stunning visual experiences and reflective meditations, between landscape and inscape, between sand and soul.

When: Sunday, October 4. Doors at 7:00pm, presentation of Sand and Soul at 7:30pm (run time 70 minutes)

A Youth & Young Adult Service (ages 13–30) will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 7:00 PM at St. Peter, Quamichan. This service will be led by youth and young adults and offers a meaningful opportunity to gather in worship, build community, and connect with others from across the region. It is part of an ongoing effort to create spaces where young people can come together in faith, share in leadership, and grow in relationship with one another.

Following the service, there will be time to socialize and connect informally, with refreshments and goodies provided in the church. Everyone is welcome.

We ask that parishes use shared mailboxes for accounts used by multiple people, but why is this? Marten will cover the reason we use them, making them work for you, and how to do basic tech support on them. Also in this session, an overview of each type of Microsoft license we use and what functionalities they do (and do not!) offer.

Nominations to Provincial and General Synod are open to all who are communicants of at least one year, are equal to or over sixteen years of age, and have been resident within the Diocese for at least three months. Should you have any questions or wish to submit your name for nomination, please email synod@bc.anglican.ca. All nominations must be received by October 15th.

Delegates to Provincial Synod 

Provincial Synod will next meet September 17th and 18th, 2027 at the Sorrento Centre in Sorrento, BC. The Diocese sends three lay delegates and two clergy delegates. Those letting their name stand should know that there is an expectation that a good portion of those who go to Provincial Synod consider letting their name stand for the Provincial Executive or in other roles in the Ecclesiastical Province.

Delegates to General Synod 

General Synod is scheduled for May 8-14th, 2028 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Diocese sends three lay and three clerical representatives and may also send one youth representative (who must be between the ages of 16 and 26 at the time of General Synod). The Diocese will cover the cost of travel. Again, there is an expectation that a good portion of those who go to General Synod also serve on other national church bodies and consider letting their names stand for the Council of General Synod. 

Registration for the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Priesting of Women in the Anglican Church of Canada is now open. The event is being hosted by our diocese at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria on November 24-25, 2026. Come and join us as we give thanks for the many ways women have contributed to the life of the church as presbyters and look to the future to examine the challenges that lie ahead for women in the church and Canadian society.
