Provincial and General Synod NominationsPathway to Synod Nominations to Provincial and General Synod are open to all who are communicants of at least one year, are equal to or over sixteen years of age, and have been resident within the Diocese for at three month. Should you have any questions or wish to submit your name for nomination, please email synod@bc.anglican.ca. All nominations must be received by October 15th. Delegates to Provincial Synod Provincial Synod will next meet September 17th and 18th, 2027 at the Sorrento Centre in Sorrento, BC. The Diocese sends three lay delegates and two clergy delegates. Those letting their name stand should know that there is an expectation that a good portion of those who go to Provincial Synod consider letting their name stand for the Provincial Executive or in other roles in the Ecclesiastical Province. Delegates to General Synod General Synod is scheduled for May 8-14th, 2028 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Diocese sends three lay and three clerical representatives and may also send one youth representative (who must be between the ages of 16 and 26 at the time of General Synod). The Diocese will cover the cost of travel. Again, there is an expectation that a good portion of those who go to General Synod also serve on other national church bodies and consider letting their names stand for the Council of General Synod. Delagates, for information on election to Diocesan Council or bringing a motion to Synod, please see the Comings & Goings from August 27th. |
