Lincoln McKoen elected bishop, Territory of the People
On Saturday, January 25, at its electoral synod for the first bishop of the Territory of the People, the Ven. Lincoln McKoen, archdeacon of Nimpkish was elected on the fourth ballot. We celebrate, together with the Territory of the People, this historic election and wish Lincoln and Tanya God's blessing. Electoral Synod Timeline Announced
The tentative date for the election of a new bishop for the diocese of islands and inlets has been announced as June 27, 2020. In a letter to Anglicans of the diocese the chancellor, Robert Gill outlined the process and timeline for the election, including guidelines for nominations. Nominations may be submitted in writing, signed by any one member of Synod and accompanied by a signed consent of the nominee. Single-Use Plastics Parish GuideNow Available At Synod 2018 we committed to eliminating single-use plastics in our churches. To assist in these efforts the diocesan Vision Implementation Team for Engaging God's World has recently produced a new resource guide to help parishes get started in reducing their ecological footprint by phasing out the use of disposable plastics by 2023. This guide is currently available on the diocesan website and will soon be available in a print version for download. An experiential Christian study
Led by a team of lay people and spiritual advisors (clergy). The Parish of Central Saanich operates the St. Stephen Cemetery (Cemetery) which is located adjacent to St. Stephen church, located at 7921 St. Stephen Road, Saanichton, BC, V8M 2C3. The cemetery is recruiting for the permanent, part-time position of custodian to oversee the maintenance and operations of the cemetery. The custodian is also responsible for providing guidance to parties interested in reserving a burial plot for full burial or cremation.
