We Together is our diocesan biennial family reunion. It's an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and a time to make new ones. Together we learn about, pray about and share what God is up to in our lives, strengthening ourselves, as the diocese of islands and inlets, for the journey God is calling us to. Christians around the world are invited to give particular attention to praying and caring for God’s creation as part of the global Season of Creation, observed from September 1 to October 4 every year. There are lots of ways to get involved.

As we welcome September to our islands and inlets, I am struck by how quickly the land changes before my eyes, and how such a change stirs something within me, as well. On Sunday mornings, we often pray for God’s creation—for the sea, the sky, the trees, and creatures — but I believe that our well-intentioned prayers sometimes neglect to address our relationship with creation.

As part of our observance of the Season of Creation, groups from parishes across our diocese will be heading out to beaches in their communities on September 21 to take part in International Coastal Cleanup Day. Check with your parish office to see what activities are being planned in your community.

On Sunday, September 29, wear an orange shirt to church to honour residential school survivors and the children who did not survive Canada’s painful residential school system.
