Anglican Benedictine Practice

Along with our facilitators, Martin Brokenleg (prior of the Victoria-based Anglican community of St Aidan) and Benedictine oblate Phyllis Thompson, we will explore Anglican Benedictine practice.

ABOUT BENEDICTINE SPIRITUALITY

At the time of the reformation in England more than 500 Benedictine communities were active. In addition, an unknown number of secular canons, who followed the Rule of St. Benedict, organized and animated the life of clergy at that time. The Book of Common Prayer has been called a Benedictine Prayer Book.

Our retreat will seek to create a Benedictine experience in schedule, instruction, and dialogue. Chanted daily offices will be an integral part of this retreat as will a daily Eucharist.

This is an opportunity to spend a few days in peaceful reflection and prayer; a time to recharge the spiritual batteries before the next headlong rush into Lent and Easter.
